These scenes from houses at Pompeii, represent buildings to be found all over the Empire. Of course these are the remains of those of the wealthier classes to be found in the Equestrian and Senatorial Orders.
Many a grandee had not only a town or city house but country mansion as well. Some of the very wealthy had many houses all over Italy and around the Empire.
